Nurses with Purpose

Ethel, a nurse at Bronson, in South Africa during her medical mission trip with the Nurses with Purpose organization.

Ethel Serunjogi has been a nurse on the Ortho Surgical Unit (OSU) at Bronson Methodist Hospital for the past 18 years! Her compassionate laid-back nature puts those around her at ease. She has shown excellent leadership on the unit and is a go-to resource.

Ethel recently went on a trip to South Africa with Nurses with Purpose. Established in 2017, Nurses with Purpose is a volunteer organization that focuses on preventative healthcare outreach with medical missions abroad. It is the first of its kind to be nurse focused, nurse driven and nurse created.

During her trip to South Africa, Ethel's group visited informal settlements, orphanages and community centers and hosted free health clinics. The group checked vitals, weights, blood sugars and gave medications to treat their common complaints. They also gave away donations such as hygiene items, clothing and toys for kids.

We are proud of Ethel and the impact she has been making on those around her right here in Michigan, during travel nursing assignments, and throughout her travels to South Africa!

Also, shout out to OSU/TCU staff who donated toward this trip as well! Ethel received so many donations that she could not accept any more with the limited room she had for the flight!
