Partnering with robust human service providers like Ministry with Community really does advance the health of our communities

Last night, I represented Bronson as a sous chef in the Chefs Against Hunger event here in Kalamazoo. All the proceeds from the event go to Ministry With Community. It is such a fun event and one that is close to my heart. Before working as the Healthy Living Coordinator here at Bronson, I was the Executive Director at Ministry With Community. Every year, I would be secretly jealous of the chefs and sous chefs because it looked like they were having so much fun – intense and chaotic fun – but fun none the less.  So when I transitioned over to Bronson, I promised that I would return as a sous chef.

And this year was my opportunity! I was thrilled when Bronson agreed to sponsor me as a sous chef. Being encouraged to participate in events like this helps me stay connected to my community and shows that Bronson is more than just another healthcare provider, but a real anchor institution.

Although my team didn’t win the cooking competition, it was a great way to be involved, on behalf of Bronson, in this great community event. We were able to raise money and awareness for Ministry With Community – and have fun while doing it!
