Through opportunities like the Pipeline Scholarship, students are achieving their academic dreams.

In 2020, a groundbreaking partnership was formed between the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Grand Valley State University (GVSU), and Battle Creek Public Schools (BCPS). From this collaboration, the GVSU/BCPS Health and Teacher Education Pipeline Scholarship was born, offering Battle Creek Central High School graduates an incredible opportunity to pursue higher education with full financial support.

The Pipeline Scholarship covers the full cost of tuition, fees, housing, dining and even provides a book stipend for BCCHS graduates who intend to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing, health professions, or teacher education. This support is not just financial—it opens the door to experiential learning and career development, encouraging students to build their careers within the Battle Creek community.

This summer, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital hosted eight Pipeline Scholarship interns. The internship provided an up-close look at the daily operations of a hospital and insight into the diverse roles within the healthcare industry. From patient care and clinical support to behind-the-scenes operations, the students experienced the healthcare field in a comprehensive way that went beyond the classroom.

As we see this partnership evolve and grow, the future for Battle Creek’s students looks brighter than ever. Through opportunities like the Pipeline Scholarship, students are achieving their academic dreams while positioning themselves to drive positive change in their hometown.
