Quinn's attention to detail and quick response made a huge impact on the patient's care

Quinn Rourk, LPN, is the recipient of the 2025 BEE Award

A patient was transferred to our unit from the emergency department. The patient was very sedated. After settling the patient in, Quinn remained mindful of the patient's condition. Shortly after the patient was admitted, his condition worsened. Quinn heard the patients breathing pattern change from the nursing station and went to check on them. She found him in respiratory distress. This led to notifying the nurse and rapid response team. The patient was transferred to intensive care and was able to discharge safely a couple days later. Quinn truly made a difference just by remaining aware. Because of Quinn, the patient’s decline was caught early and before the condition worsened into a much greater emergency.
