To me, Michelle is a true hero
Over the last two months, my fiancé was admitted to Bronson three times. The first time, the stay was 19 days. He was admitted with cognitive issues, a fever and not being able to move. After testing, he was diagnosed with a staph infection and bacterial meningitis. He required A LOT of care. All the staff was great, but one nurse really stood out, and her name is Michelle Wilson.
Michelle is the kind of nurse that every patient deserves. Her compassion and gentleness really shone through while caring for my fiancé, who was and still is totally bedbound from this ordeal. Michelle always took the time to keep his sister and I informed of any new testing or prognosis and what providers had seen him each day. Every single time Michelle cared for him, she made sure to explain what she was going to do for him and apologized for any pain that he had while she moved him, to care for him, etc.
After he was discharged to a nursing facility, he was transported back to Bronson about a week later with chest pains. He was admitted into the same unit. During this stay, he still had not recovered mentally. Again, Michelle cared for him with the utmost kindness and communicated with me every shift she worked with him. A few days into this stay, I asked Michelle about a folder on his tray table about Congestive Heart Failure. She explained that people can live for years with CHF.
I was hoping for Michelle to be his nurse during the third inpatient stay, but I didn’t see her that week, as his room was farther down the hall.
I am not very eloquent with words or details, but Michelle Wilson was the absolute best nurse I have ever encountered. I cannot applaud her enough. Thank you, Michelle, for all you do every shift. To me, you are a true hero!
