She has helped create a fabulous culture within our unit

Michelle Schuring, BSN, RN, is the recipient of the 2025 Unit Coordinator Award

Michelle has done an exceptional job in all areas this year and she deserves to be recognized for her hard work, passion, growth, and dedication to our team and her patients.

Michelle has worked within Bronson since 2010! Almost 15 years she has been dedicated to our patients and teams. During that time, she has held several different positions and has been a Unit Coordinator for the past four years. Yes, her nursing skills are on point in all areas, but I think one of her best qualities are how she interacts with patients and team members. She has helped create a fabulous culture here on our unit. Michelle connects well with all our employees making them feel engaged, heard, supported, and valued. She's always up for educating new employees and is quick to celebrate personal and professional successes.

An area I have seen great growth in this last year is supporting and driving organizational initiatives/strategies. She has done a ton of work with HAPl's (hospital acquired pressure ulcers) over this last year helping to develop standard work, educate staff, audit the processes, and drive change to reduce the number of HAPl's patients acquire. She developed a K-card, SSKINE audit form, 2-person skin assessment sheets to name a few of the bigger projects related to HAPl's.

It has been a pleasure watching her grow and become more confident in her ability to think independently, develop a plan, and then follow through with action. She's never afraid to step in both feet first to new ideas/processes. Michelle is always up for a challenge and something new which is refreshing and benefits our patients and teams.
