Tanya S., RN was my pre-op nurse before going in to my first ever surgery! She eased my anxieties and made me feel so safe and comfortable. She didn’t mind my babbling and was excited to look at pictures of my dogs and show me pictures of her dogs/farm animals! Tanya made me feel so comfortable with the rest of my care team (Dr, PA, CRNA, anesthesiologist, PCA, etc.) by sharing little tidbits about them all and really caring and being encouraging about her team and my care. It was awesome to be able to have such a supportive, caring, and understanding RN to be there with me before going into surgery.

Then, Stephen M., RN was my circulating nurse during my surgery with Dr. Sytsma! When he came to pre-op to wheel me over to the OR, he made me feel so comfortable and helped eased my anxieties about going into my first ever surgery. Stephen also introduced me to my full OR team and took time to note little things about me that I told him and to relay those things to my care team. I had briefly mentioned to him that my career goal is to be a PA and he helped me connect with the PA on my case because of that! It was so nice to be able to “go to sleep” knowing that I had such caring and thoughtful people in the room with me taking care of me. Stephen M. made that a possibility! My mom even mentioned that he made her feel real comfortable before taking me back.
