The care we received was above and beyond
On Saturday, March 4th, I took my husband, Douglas Houser, to the Emergency Center at Bronson Battle Creek. The nurse who attended to my husband, Tiffany, was wonderful, professional and informative. Other staff were also attentive, but Tiffany spent the most time attending to my husband.
However, because Battle Creek did not have the ability to take care of all my husband's needs, he was sent by ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital that evening.
In the Neuro Critical Care Unit, Taylor was his nurse that evening and the next two evenings. My husband has numerous medical issues, with a very complex history that has required hospital visits or stays over the last 20 years.
I have never experienced the dedication and kindness Taylor gave to my husband. She is absolutely incredible and knowledgeable. I am not sure that she had a break the first evening as she had so many different responsibilities to take care of for him. She took the time to explain the monitor and what all the readings were. She managed the many different medications (infusions) that were needed and their sequencing. Although she may be young, her knowledge was very impressive. I felt that she knew it was important to keep Doug's family informed, recognizing that our health was just as important to his recovery.
We do recognize that she would not be able to do all this without other staff. The team in the Neuro Critical Care Unit was amazing and they all worked together to ensure patient success.
Thank you also to Tyler, who attended to my husband during the daytime, along with Heather, Marcie, Derek, Roxanne, Jeremy, Jillian, Lila, Leaha and all who provided such incredible care to my husband.
The care we received from Bronson Methodist Hospital was above and beyond the care provided by the U of M Hospital.
