The type of nurse you look up to

Cynthia McIntosh, BSN, RN, is an ambulatory care manager at Bronson. I have been blessed to sit beside her each day and listen to her countless encounters with patients, whether it be on the phone or in person. She always gives her to time to see a patient and never declines helping someone she may not be expecting that day.

A few qualities that I feel put Cynthia above and beyond are her unique ability to have a calming presence and a trusting demeanor. She carries herself in such a manner that you instantly feel trust and acceptance from her. She uses these qualities to share her own personal and truthful stories to help her patients achieve their goals. I have not doubted that she is doing this for one simple reason...She does not want her patients to feel alone in their health, or embarrassed to discuss things with her. I have always admired how she routinely uses the teach back method to ensure that her patients understand what she is explaining. She has never ending patience and care to all, she never talks down but always encourages. She is so sweet and so approachable making her patients love her. Even patients that have passed will still have family members come in that ALWAYS ask to see Cynthia as she was so integral in their parent's final days of life.

I could write a book on how lucky we have been to have Cynthia on our team! She is a wonderful addition, everyone adores her, and she would take the shirt off her back if it would help someone else in need. That is that kind of person she is. The kind of person that would not accept discontinuing a phone call with a patient calling at 5pm asking if there is some kind of way she could get food to eat that night.... instead, Cynthia stayed on that phone until she found a way to ensure a meal for this patient. Cynthia is warm, loving, genuine with her care. She is the type of nurse you want to look up to, especially in the ambulatory setting. She is my Hero, and I am sure I would not be the only one to say this.
