This nurse deserves a big hug
My brother was a patient in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Bronson Methodist Hospital for a while and unfortunately, passed away. He was moved to different units and had a lot of nurses, but one nurse sticks out – Caitlin. She was my brothers nurse for a couple days and was just great. She went over things, step by step. She explained what different doctors meant when they came in and talked to me. I don’t work in a hospital and a lot of what they were saying went right over my head. The day that the neuro doctor came in and said that things didn’t look good, Caitlin gave me some time. She quietly placed tissues next to me and let me get that information around my brain. Then she came in, sat down with me, and just let me talk. She answered every question. She reassured me of what could happen, depending on what option we chose. She reassured me that all these decisions would be made on our timeline for our family. She made an overwhelming and terrible situation bearable. I’m not big on feelings, ya know, just have to deal with things because that’s life but this nurse deserves a big hug. I don’t know how we would’ve gotten through everything without her. And I didn’t even say how she cared for my brother. She always said hi to him and good morning. She told him what she was doing. She would ask me if I thought he seemed comfortable since I know him better. I can’t say enough good things about her. Thank you, Caitlin.
