At Bronson, we believe no matter where you are in your cancer journey, you are a survivor!
This three-part class series is designed to support individuals in survivorship by offering education, reflection and practical tools for navigating life during and after a cancer diagnosis. Classes will take place from 4-5 p.m. on the following Thursdays at the Bronson Cancer Center in Kalamazoo:
- April 9: What is Survivorship and What Does it Mean to Me? In the first session, we will explore the term survivorship and the experience of living with, through and beyond cancer. We’ll also discuss the lasting physical, emotional and social challenges you may face. Survivorship care focuses not only on monitoring for recurrence, but on managing long-term and late effects ensuring ongoing care as your individual needs change over time.
- April 16: Why Am I Feeling This Way? In the second session, we will explore some of the most common late and long-term effects of cancer and its treatment, with a focus on fatigue and “brain fog.” We will also discuss how exercise, mindfulness and sleep can play an important role in improving energy, focus and overall well-being.
- April 23: Reflecting On My Journey. In the third session, we will explore the concept of post-traumatic growth. This includes the ways in which people can experience positive change following a difficult life event. Together, we will reflect on how the cancer experience may have shaped perspectives, priorities, relationships and personal strengths. You’re invited to share your experiences through writing, journaling, art or other creative outlets.
