Profile

After having knee surgery in eighth grade, Amy underwent physical therapy, and from then on she was hooked. It was a true calling for her. In graduate school, Amy fell in love with neurology and having experienced pelvic health issues most of her life, she also had a strong desire to help patients with the same problems improve their quality of life. Amy most enjoys the ability to positively impact the lives of others and being able to have a great time with colleagues at work.

Amy’s Christian faith is the driving force of her life and everything she does. Other influences in her life are the people who taught her important, but hard lessons. That includes patients, family, friends, professors, colleagues and even strangers. The hardest things she has ever been through have made her the person she is today, and she is grateful for everything she’s learned from those individuals.

Outside of work, Amy volunteers through her church leading a support group for female victims of sexual trauma and participating in other groups and ministries. She also teaches pelvic health classes to physical therapists just starting their training in pelvic health. In addition, she is a program reviewer for the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, which is the national accrediting body for physical therapy programs.

In her spare time, Amy loves to write, cook, travel, sing and go to hockey games. She swims for exercise and was a swimmer on a triathlon team. She also loves to spend time at church, with her family and friends, babysitting and participating in fantasy hockey leagues.
