Anna Welcome, MD, became interested in obesity medicine while in medical school. As she learned how complex the condition was, and realized how tough it was to handle alone, she felt a need to provide a source of help for patients who were struggling with weight issues.
She enjoys working with a great team and pursuing something that is so life changing for patients. Dr. Welcome finds great satisfaction in doing work that helps others live a better life.
Having struggled to manage her own weight, she strives to be a very understanding partner for her patients. Dr. Welcome believes in providing her patients with "compassionate accountability."
She credits her husband, parents, friends and teachers with helping her to push herself to be the best person she can be, both privately and professionally.
In her free time, Dr. Welcome enjoys reading, music, science, history, travel, soccer, theatre, film, art, kayaking, hiking, needlework and spending time in nature. She also finds enjoyment observing people in their own natural habitats.
Dr. Welcome shares her free time by volunteering with the Girl Scouts, in local arts and through support of local food drives.
