Profile

Dr. Dakshinamoorthy is grateful for the opportunity to care for critically ill patients and considers it a privilege to be involved in your care. She chose a career in critical care because she enjoys solving problems and helping others - medicine is a great marriage of those interests. She was surprised by her interest in critical care - it is a product of many overnight call shifts in the medical intensive care unit (MICU) during her residency at Swedish Hospital, part of North Shore, Chicago, Ill. She found that she enjoyed the fast-paced nature, wide ranging pathologies and the opportunity to do procedures. She also enjoys the collaboration with other medical professionals who prioritize coming to work every day wanting to help those who are going through an extremely tough period in their life.

"Collectively, my family have all had a tremendous influence on my life," says Dr. Dakshinamoorthy. "I would not be where I am today without them."

In her free time, Dr. Dakshinamoorthy enjoys reading and spending time outdoors in nature. She also is volunteering with her husband in a local animal shelter.
