My Approach to Care

I prioritize understanding my patients' and parents' concerns by actively listening during visits and addressing them directly. I strive to create a calming atmosphere by discussing their interests and explaining procedures clearly to minimize anxiety. I believe in shared decision-making, ensuring patients and parents understand diagnoses and collaborate on treatment plans to achieve the best results.  My passion lies in creating a positive experience for all, especially young children.

What makes Dr. Benner excited to come to work every day? She gets excited for the opportunity to care for patients and make a positive impact on their life. Dr. Benner's personal experience with illness during her college years significantly shaped her approach to medicine. She went to many different doctors and hospitals, but they kept giving her the wrong diagnosis. She finally received an accurate diagnosis from a doctor who truly listened to her concerns. This experience made her want to become a doctor who listens to patients.

 

Even as a young person, Dr. Benner always loved being around kids. When she decided on a career, she knew she wanted to combine her love for helping children with her interest in science and medicine. That's why she chose pediatrics! Dr. Benner feels strongly about giving back to her community, and being a pediatrician is a perfect way to help young people grow up healthy and strong. She has a special interest in asthma and eczema.

 

When Dr. Benner isn't busy caring for kids, she loves spending time with her family. She enjoys being outdoors with her husband and kids, whether it's going for walks or exploring new places on trips. Dr. Benner also loves playing the piano, and sometimes her kids join in with their own silly "playing"!
