Profile

Healthcare and caretaking have been lifelong passions for Dana. While supporting a family member through a difficult diagnosis, she came to realize that nursing was always what I was meant for. In fact, she was known to set up little stuffed-animal hospital wards to tend to as a child. One of her earliest hobbies was researching the terms she heard on her mother’s beloved medical dramas.

Dana credits Dr. Solomon, one of the first emergency physicians she worked with, as one of her biggest influences. Dana recalls how consistently kind and competent the doctor was and how she was always so encouraging. Dana feels she helped to shape her love of medicine and nursing and has remained a bright spot and source of hope through every step of her journey.

Dana truly treasures the connections she gets to form and nurture every day, both with her patients and her colleagues. Additionally, learning has been a lifelong passion for Dana—one of her favorite things about her field is that there is always something new to learn!

Dana is an avid proponent of public health and research, as well as the many non-medical factors that contribute to overall health.

She is the president of the Family Readiness Group for the unit of the Army National Guard that her husband belongs to and gets a great deal of enjoyment from supporting the soldiers who serve our great state, as well as their families.

Dana is an avid storyteller, through both written and photographic works, and have been honored to have her art displayed in the Museum of Photographic Arts. She also enjoys tending her vegetable garden and her flock of very silly chickens.
