Profile

Dr. Swena became an OBGYN to help women during the most difficult and joyous times in their lives. Her favorite aspect of working in women’s health is empowering women to make healthy choices, especially during pregnancy. She also loves building a connection with patients and their families.

Her specialty is lifestyle medicine and whole person care, which involves providing for the physical and emotional needs of patients. One of her biggest influences in life has been her Christian faith. “It has been my source of inspiration to provide healing and compassion to my patients,” says Dr. Swena.

In her free time, she volunteers for community health programs to help people learn how to exercise and make healthy food taste delicious. She also enjoys taking OBGYN resident physicians to Africa for global health experiences as part of their training.

For fun, she enjoys trying new whole plant food recipes, playing the piano, ice skating, traveling and spending time outdoors with her husband, Mitch.
