Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Dr. Norman worked as an electrical engineer after graduating from the University of Rochester in 1979. A 1987 graduate of Temple University School of Medicine, he completed general surgery training at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago in 1992.

Dr. Norman became American Board of Surgery Certified in 1993 and practiced in a group private practice performing a broad spectrum of surgery in the Chicago suburbs until moving to Kalamazoo to join WMU School of Medicine (formerly MSU/ KCMS) in 2004 as a member of the full-time teaching faculty.  He was promoted to Program Director in 2009 and later became the Founding Chair of Surgery for the new medical school.

Dr. Norman enjoys working and living in Southwest Michigan caring for
its patient population, working with a talented medical community and helping
to train physicians and surgeons of the future.
