Profile

Dr. Ioana Antonescu always had an interest in medicine for the privilege to help people. As for vascular surgery, the appeal for her was several-fold. She enjoyed the intellectual challenge that comes with a broad spectrum of pathologies, the technical meticulousness required, and the opportunity for constant evolution and innovation. Most importantly however is the opportunity to establish and foster a long-term relationship with her patients.

Dr. Antonescu’s parents have been the biggest influence in her life. Very early on, they taught her values and a work ethic that have defined her whole life. They have taught her to be a good person as well and to spare no effort in becoming excellent at what she does.

Every day as a vascular surgeon is a new challenge- a complex case, a technically difficult interaction, a problem to solve. Dr. Antonescu enjoys coming to work every day because she gets to face all that within a team of dedicated and supportive colleagues, all the while forming bonds with her patients and people who come for help.

Dr. Antonescu enjoys all aspects of vascular surgery but has special interests in thoracic outlet pathologies, carotid disease and the newer trans-carotid revascularization method, as well as complex endovascular venous reconstruction.

Before residency, Dr. Antonescu enjoyed volunteering for a hospital in Montreal, taking long-term care patients through various activities to enlighten their days. She was a volunteer there for two years and then became the leader of that same team for two more years.

In her spare time, Dr. Antonescu’s favorite things include spending time with loved ones, her parents and her fiancé. She also enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle, including daily jogs. Dr Antonescu likes to travel and is a big fan of food and likes discovering any new place through its restaurants.

Dr. Antonescu showed dedication and motivation and excitement to become a part of this community. She plans to invest all her energy in helping patients and their families using the knowledge and skills she has worked hard to acquire.
