Jaclyn Martinez has always had an interest in preventative medicine. As a youth, this manifested itself in the realm of nutrition and food. She remembers taking old recipes and experimenting with ways to make them healthier but still tasty. This led to her decision to study dietetics when she went off to college. While rewarding, she decided she could make an even larger impact on health by continuing her education and becoming a physician assistant.

She credits her journey to a mother who was always encouraging her to pursue her goals and being true to herself. Martinez feels that it is always important to be truly passionate about the type of work that you do. She feels that sense of passion and accomplishment whenever she’s able to work with others to improve their health.

In her free time, Martinez enjoys reading, spending time with family and enjoying Michigan’s many lakes.
