Dr. Philburn chose a career in medicine to combine her passion for science with a deep desire to help others. She found internal medicine appealing for its diversity of specialties and patient care experiences. Thriving on the mental challenges of medicine, she relishes the opportunity to simplify complex medical information for her patients and their families, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.

From an early age, Dr. Philburn’s parents instilled in her the confidence to pursue her dreams, which, along with the unwavering support of her significant other throughout her educational journey and career, has been a source of strength and instrumental in her success.

Passionate about giving back to the community, Dr. Philburn would like to become involved with street medicine programs that cater to disadvantaged populations. She is especially motivated by initiatives that deliver care directly to those in need, recognizing the importance of addressing health differences and ensuring access to essential medical services for susceptible groups.

Outside of work, a mix of self-taught crafts brings Dr. Philburn balance in her life, such as crocheting, knitting, quilting, cross-stitching, woodworking and painting. She also finds joy in reading and unwinding with afternoon naps in her hammock, often with her dogs by her side.
