My Approach to Care

I don't think of my job as solely work. It's a desire to provide excellent orthopedic upper extremity healthcare to the community. This requires teamwork. I enjoy partnering with my patients so that we can create a treatment plan that accomplishes their medical needs and personal goals.

Dr. Mizerik chose a career in orthopedic surgery because she enjoys caring for others, fixing things that are broken and solving puzzles. One of her biggest motivators is knowing that what she is doing is helping her patients return to the lives they lived before their injury or condition. She also has a special interest in working with patients who have distal radius fractures.

Her biggest influencers in life are her mom, for her nurturing personality, and her dad who is a retired orthopedic surgeon. Growing up she saw the positive impact both of her parents had on the lives of others in the community. This made her want to contribute to the community in her own way.

Dr. Mizerik enjoys volunteering at her children’s school and participating in faculty activities at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D School of Medicine. She also participates in the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

In her spare time, she loves being around her kids and husband as well as cooking and being outdoors.
