My Approach to Care

It has been an honor and a privilege to be a pediatric surgeon at Bronson Children's Hospital since 2005. I take care of children just like they are members of my own family. This is the only way I know how to do it! With my passion for minimally-invasive surgery, my guiding principle has always been to give the best care with the smallest incisions possible. I truly love what I do.

Dr. Leinwand chose to be a pediatric surgeon because it combines his love for children with the art of fixing things. He finds personal satisfaction in diagnosing a problem and then solving that problem with an operation. When he comes to the hospital each day, he feels excitement in knowing that his skills will improve the life of a child. Dr. Leinwand is especially interested in minimally invasive surgery, which leaves little or no scarring whenever possible. Growing up, Dr. Leinwand’s parents and teachers helped guide him to where he is today. He was taught to do his best in every endeavor, aim high and think big. His family runs a nonprofit organization called Crayons4Kids which provides toys, crayons and coloring books to hospitalized children. It also donates DVD players, tablets, game systems, and music therapy items to hospitals. In his free time, Dr. Leinwand enjoys spending time with his wife and children while playing on the lake. He also loves all things music. He calls Bronson Children's Hospital a spectacular place to work in a city that is a wonderful place to raise a family.
