Dr. Wassim Jawad chose his profession because of his father, who was also a physician. Dr. Jawad said his father worked harder than anybody he knew and always seemed so satisfied with his life. He took pleasure in teaching - whether it was educating patients about their illness, or teaching trainees how to think like a great doctor. Anybody could see the enthusiasm on his face and hear the passion in his voice. For Dr. Jawad, growing up in this environment inspired him to follow in his father’s footsteps.
In turn, Dr. Jawad's parents were the biggest influence in his life. They never stopped encouraging his to follow his dreams. His mother would always tell him to never settle for less, and would get genuinely angry if she thought he was settling.
Dr. Jawad gets excited to come to work every day because he knows how stressful it can be for a patient not knowing what's wrong and not understanding the gravity of a certain medical problem. He enjoys having the opportunity to relieve patients of that burden.
He has special interests in cryoablation, left atrial appendage closure, implantable cardiac devices and ventricular tachycardia.
In his free time, Dr. Jawad likes to volunteer his time for health fairs and other community outreach activities. He also likes to travel, spend time with his family, run short and mid-distances, and is an avid Detroit sports fan.
