Bronson Methodist Hospital is a Top 50 Cardiovascular Hospital for the fifth consecutive year.

Bronson Methodist Hospital Named a 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital® – Five Years Running!

One of Only Two Hospitals in Michigan Across the Nation

For the fifth consecutive year, Bronson Methodist Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals® by Premier, Inc., a recognition awarded to top-performing hospitals based on excellence in quality, patient outcomes and cost-efficiency.

Heart disease remains a leading cause of health issues in the United States. Roughly one in 20 U.S. adults aged 20 and older has coronary artery disease, the most common type of cardiovascular disease, and every 40 seconds, someone has a heart attack.

“At Bronson, we are committed to delivering exceptional heart and vascular care to our patients and communities,” said Bill Manns, President & CEO of Bronson Healthcare. “We are truly honored to be recognized again at Bronson Methodist Hospital for being ranked among the 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals in the nation. This is a testament to the dedication, skill and compassion of our entire cardiovascular team.”

Premier’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals® program evaluates nearly 800 short-term, acute care heart hospitals that offer comprehensive cardiovascular services, including open heart surgery. The recognition is based on multiple performance measures, and hospitals do not apply or pay for inclusion.

Key outcomes achieved by this year’s 50 top hospitals compared to peers include:

  • Lower mortality rates: 25% fewer deaths from acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and 66% fewer deaths from coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
  • Fewer complications: 30% fewer complications from percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) and 19% fewer from CABG
  • Higher survival rates: 30-day survival rates were 0.4 to 1.2 percentage points higher for AMI, heart failure (HF) and CABG patients
  • Lower readmission rates: Readmissions within 30 days were 0.2 to 0.4 percentage points lower for AMI, HF and CABG patients
  • Shorter hospital stays: Patients spent up to one full day less in the hospital for major heart procedures
  • Lower costs: Total patient care costs were $1,300 to $6,900 lower per case, depending on the procedure
  • Better patient experience: Top hospitals scored 72% in patient satisfaction, compared to 68% at other hospitals

According to the 2025 report, if all hospitals operated at the level of this year’s top performers, the nation could see 14,000 fewer deaths from heart disease, 28,600 fewer complications from heart procedures and a savings of over $1.5 billion in inpatient costs.

“Heart disease is America’s leading cause of death, affecting roughly 127.9 million Americans and costing about $252 billion,” said David Zito, Premier’s President, Performance Services.  “As hospitals and health systems strive for continuous improvement in cardiovascular care, data-driven insights and transformational strategies are vital for ensuring patient-centric care aligned with optimized financial and operational performance. Premier’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals program helps hospitals evaluate national cardiovascular disease trends and develop strategies to deliver targeted evidence-based care.”

This recognition follows Bronson Methodist Hospital’s recent achievement as one of America’s 250 Best HospitalsTM for 2025 by Healthgrades, placing it among the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance. For more information on the nationally recognized heart care at Bronson, visit bronsonhealth.com/heart.
