Training Tomorrow’s Laboratory Professionals at Bronson

Bronson is helping address the growing need for skilled laboratory professionals by supporting hands-on education and training opportunities for students pursuing careers in medical laboratory science.

In 2025, Bronson's lab team welcomed eight Medical Laboratory Science student interns at locations in Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Paw Paw. The internships provided real-world experience in hospital laboratories, where testing plays a critical role in diagnosing disease, guiding treatment and supporting patient care.

Each internship lasted at least 16 weeks and provided supervised, hands-on training in four key areas of laboratory medicine: clinical chemistry, hematology, blood bank and transfusion services, and microbiology. Through these rotations, students gained practical skills while learning how laboratory teams support physicians and patients every day.

“Bronson's lab team is deeply committed to giving back and growing forward by educating the next generation of laboratory professionals. It is truly gratifying that Bronson retains many of our talented students after graduating. They come back as our colleagues and work toward the shared goal of providing the highest quality data to drive patient care in our community,” said Dr. Sharghi, medical director of Bronson's lab services.

Bronson’s lab education team worked closely with students throughout their rotations, helping them build technical skills, understand workplace expectations and prepare for careers in laboratory science.

Thank you to this team for guiding these students through their rotations and helping them prepare for successful careers in laboratory science.
