Bronson Methodist Hospital Recognizes Nurses for Providing Extraordinary Care (Q2 2019)

Four registered nurses from Bronson Methodist Hospital (BMH) are recent recipients of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Marriam Almufti, BSN, RN, Ryan Davis, BSN, RN, Danette Mbithi, BSN, RN, and Jenell Sackett, RN, each were nominated for the award during the second quarter of 2019 for going above and beyond to provide an exceptional healthcare experience for their patients.

Nominations for the DAISY Award come from patients, family members and colleagues. Read about each winner below to find out why they received this recognition.

Marriam Almufti, BSN, RN, is a nurse in the medical intensive care unit (MICU). “Marriam’s meticulous care of our son demonstrated a nurse that not only cares deeply about the patient, but the family as well. We are convinced that Marriam’s care was a contributing factor to our son’s positive outcome.” Read Marriam’s full nomination now.

Ryan Davis, BSN, RN, is a prep and recovery (PRU) nurse. “Ryan was very reassuring and took plenty of time to explain each detail. It made my husband more relaxed and comfortable.” Read Ryan’s full nomination now.

Danette Mbithi, BSN, RN, is a nurse on the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). “My son is my third premie, so I thought there was very little to learn, but I was wrong. Danette provided me with information that I did not know, and it was most helpful. At night when I would feel the most lonely, Danette always listened to my conversations and, like an old friend, kept the conversations going all the while giving exceptional care to my son.” Read Danette’s full nomination now.

Jenell Sackett, RN, is a nurse on the general surgery unit (GSU). “I was in the hospital on my birthday. Jenell got me balloons, signs, card and cake from Boonzaaijer Bakery. What a surprise I had when I got back to my room from my procedure.” Read Janell’s full nomination now.

About the DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is supported by the not-for-profit DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation. Bonnie and J. Mark Barnes created this foundation and award as a way to remember their son, J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick had a disease that attacked his body and was in the hospital for a long time. His nurses did such a great job with him that the Barnes family created an award that continues to recognize the excellent work nurses do every day.
