Phil Wiechart, a chaplain for Bronson Battle Creek for the past two years, has attained the distinction of board-certified chaplain from the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). He will be among 200 board-certified, provisional-certified, and associate-certified chaplains in the U.S. to be recognized in Orlando, Florida in June.
The status of board-certified chaplain represents a high level of commitment and professional achievement, as well as recognition by one’s peers and the board of a nationally recognized professional association.
APC, a national nonprofit organization, is a multi-faith association established to promote competent professional chaplaincy care through advocacy, education, standards of practice, and service to its members. Professional chaplains work throughout the U.S. in specialized settings, including healthcare, corporations, correctional facilities, and the military.
Wiechart received his bachelor’s degree from Bluffton University (OH), master’s at Eastern Mennonite Seminary (VA), and additional clinical pastoral education residency at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center (IN).
Wiechart, in addition to his daily hospital duties, is a member of the BBC Palliative Care Team.
