In addition to providing birthing services at the Bronson BirthPlace, Bronson Methodist Hospital is also southwest Michigan’s only Perinatal Center, which means that it provides the highest level of care for women experiencing high-risk pregnancies. Bronson is also the only Children’s Hospital in southwest Michigan and has both a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
On April 15, 2007, the Bronson BirthPlace and NICU will be expanding and moving into a new patient care pavilion on Bronson’s North Campus. In the North Pavilion, the Bronson BirthPlace will gain nine private patient rooms for a total of 40. The NICU, which has 45 beds, will change from an open nursery design to all-private rooms for infants, which is now industry best practice.
