Bronson Battle Creek Hospital Announces 2024 Q4 DAISY Award Recipient
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is an international recognition program that celebrates nurses who not only provide excellent patient care but have demonstrated a high level of compassion and empathy for both patients and their families. DAISY Award nominations are submitted by patients, family members and colleagues.

Bronson Battle Creek Hospital honors a nurse with the DAISY Award on a quarterly basis. Congratulations to our most recent award winner: Karen Penrod, BSN, RN!
Karen is a nurse in the Emergency Department at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. She was nominated for the award by a former patient who explains: “I was extremely sick and Karen was right by my side all the way. She is very loving, caring and compassionate. She went the extra mile for me. I cannot put into words enough the kind of person she is. She is #1 in my book!”

About the DAISY Award
The DAISY Award is supported by the not-for-profit DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation. Bonnie and J. Mark Barnes created this foundation and award as a way to remember their son, J. Patrick Barnes. Patrick had a disease that attacked his body and was in the hospital for a long time. His nurses did such a great job with him that the Barnes family created an award that continues to recognize the excellent work nurses do every day.
