Bronson Begins Collecting New Data to Improve Patient Care

Bronson is furthering its efforts to make sure patients and their families receive equitable, exceptional healthcare that is tailored to their needs.

At select Bronson practices, patients will have the opportunity at their next appointment to add their sexual orientation and gender identity information to their medical record. This information includes:

  • Legal Name
  • Preferred Name
  • Sex Assigned at Birth
  • Gender Identity
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Preferred Pronouns

This data helps Bronson provide patient-centered care as well as see if there are gaps in care or services across different patient populations, including LGBTQ+ people and their families. This data is part of a patient’s medical record, so it is protected by law and will remain confidential.

Bronson Diabetes & Endocrinology Center and Bronson Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialists are the first practices at Bronson to begin this work. The effort will be implemented throughout the Bronson system later this year.

Update your information on MyChart

All Bronson patients can add their sexual orientation and gender identity information to their health record on their own using MyChart:

  1. Log in to your MyChart account.
  2. Click on the ‘Menu’ button.
  3. Scroll down and select ‘Personal Information’ listed under ‘Account Settings.’
  4. Click the gray ‘Edit’ button in the section labeled ‘Details About Me.’
