Bronson BirthPlace Welcomes Its First Newborn of 2025

A family is celebrating a joyful milestone as they welcome their newborn—earning the special title of 'first baby born' at Bronson BirthPlace in 2025. 

The first baby born at Bronson BirthPlace in Kalamazoo was a healthy baby boy. Jumir Nausjay Quin Hudson was born at 12:31 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025, to parents Roniqua Williams and Nausjay Hudson of Kalamazoo. He weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz. and measured 19.29 inches long. Jumir joins siblings Juanita, Jumani, Jussan and Jummai, all of whom were born at Bronson Methodist Hospital.  

“Bringing a baby into the world is always a special experience but delivering one on New Year’s Day feels particularly meaningful,” said certified nurse midwife Lanie Santos at Bronson BirthPlace. “It’s an incredible way to start the year, and we’re honored to share this moment with the family as they welcome their newest addition.” 

As of 5 p.m. on New Year's Day, three babies have been born at Bronson BirthPlace in Kalamazoo. 

Bronson is the leading birthing center in southwest Michigan and is nationally recognized for quality and safety. In 2024, more than 4,500 babies were born at Bronson BirthPlace, which has two locations – Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.
