Bronson Celebrates Exceptional Nurse Leaders
Last month, Bronson celebrated six outstanding nurse managers and unit coordinators with awards for excellence in leadership. Over the past year, these leaders have done an exceptional job at guiding their teams and promoting an environment of positivity, learning and excellence. Kendra Burrows, BSN, RN
Nurse Manager, Bronson South Haven Hospital, General Care Unit

“From being a resource to her staff during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, to representing South Haven on quality improvement committees, to being highly involved in optimizing policy and procedure for her staff, Kendra has supported and embraced leadership to its highest level. Additionally, Kendra has taken on complete ownership of the new Swing Bed Program in Van Buren County. Kendra’s efforts continue to ensure Bronson South Haven Hospital remains a special and valued part of the Bronson system.”

“Malinda is not afraid to speak up, to celebrate the success of her teams, or to roll up her sleeves and help when different areas of the hospital are short-staffed. You can often find her on the unit or in the ED filling in when needed or being present when other leaders are unavailable. Not to mention, she has put in countless hours of work to make the new Swing Bed Program and Pulmonary Functions Site a success. We are so thankful to have Malinda as our nurse manager and leader!”

“Michelle is an example to all staff. She is known to be at the bedside lending a hand and going the extra mile. Michelle is very organized and takes initiative to conquer anything that comes her way. She has the ability see a need and work to meet the need without being given direction. She has been instrumental in representing Battle Creek nursing in the Bronson system-wide HAPI meeting, and communicating effectively with staff afterward. This leads to quality care for our patients and easier processes for our staff.”

Nurse Manager, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, Emergency Department

“Over the past few years, Kristin has been instrumental in the success of Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. She has been a key player in leading major initiatives, including reducing the number of ED patients who leave without being seen, fostering relationships between the ED and hospital inpatient units, and even recruitment and retention of nursing staff. Through lots of changes, Kristin has been able to gain staff buy-in, support her team, and really step up to lead by example. She genuinely promotes a culture of connectedness and inclusivity and operations run much smoother as a result of her drive.”
