KALAMAZOO, Mich. − Bronson Health Foundation (BHF) is launching the public phase of a $4.5 million Bronson Children’s Hospital Campaign to support programs, services and mission-critical projects at the hospital — the only children’s hospital in southwest Michigan.

Through overwhelming support during the first phase of the campaign, BHF has already raised $3.3 million, exceeding its initial fundraising goal of $3 million dollars thanks to the generosity of individuals, families, and organizations.

As the first year of fundraising was underway, additional projects emerged in need of funding including high frequency jet ventilators in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), transport isolettes, a pediatric ambulance and more. As a result, a stretch goal has been set to raise a total of $4.5 million by the spring of 2024.

The community’s involvement is needed to help reach the new goal, allowing the Foundation to strengthen the fund that helps sustain the children’s hospital and to continue championing new projects along the way.

Dr. Gregory Tiongson, medical director at Bronson Children’s Hospital, explains that services funded through donations impact the lives of children every day. “Whether it’s a premature newborn being rushed to Bronson from a rural hospital, a child with appendicitis that needs surgery, a child newly diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease, or a teen undergoing cancer treatment, their care is enhanced because of the generosity of our community.”

Some of the projects that the Children’s Hospital Fund helps to maintain include:

  • Child life, art and music therapy
  • Child advocacy
  • Genetic testing
  • Mental health screening resources
  • Diabetes kits
  • Stuffed animals for pediatric surgery
  • NICU parent liaison
  • NICU celebrations

“Thousands of families rely on Bronson Children’s Hospital every year to provide care and comfort to their children,” says Terry Morrow, president of Bronson Health Foundation. “We are so grateful to have community members who recognize that children are a vital and precious part of our lives. We look forward to the community’s support during this campaign.”
