Bronson Healthcare Launches New MyChart App for Hospitalized Patients
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – This week, the Bronson Healthcare system launched a new digital tool to make communicating about care easier for hospitalized patients. MyChart Bedside is an inpatient app that is accessed through the patient’s own Bronson MyChart app.
Patients and their families at all Bronson hospitals (Bronson Battle Creek, Bronson LakeView, Bronson Methodist and Bronson South Haven) can use the app while in the hospital to see aspects of the patient’s care plan including their medical chart, daily schedules, test results, educational materials, and more. They can also communicate non-urgent requests to their care team.
This new technology supports increased understanding of diagnoses and daily plans which can lead to more robust questions and enhanced relationships between patients and their care team. Bronson staff can help patients sign up for the app and show them how to use it on their own tablet or mobile phone. With the patient's permission, a family member or caregiver can also access MyChart Bedside from their personal device using the Bronson MyChart app, making it easy to check in on their patient’s progress.
“With MyChart Bedside, we are creating a more connected and informed hospital experience, that our patients and their loved ones have already embraced with Bronson MyChart for the past decade in their ambulatory care experience with us.” says Ash Goel, MD, Senior VP, CIO at Bronson. “Healthcare is complex and always changing. What our patients want is a more informed and engaged experience when receiving care in the hospital. Apps like MyChart Bedside help Bronson deliver care “for and with” them and not “to” them - by turning a mobile device into a tool that enhances care and empowers patients during and after their inpatient stay.”
Bronson began piloting the app in 2022 at Bronson LakeView Hospital and Bronson South Haven Hospital in Van Buren County. Based on positive patient and staff feedback, the decision was made to extend the service system-wide. To learn more visit the Bronson MyChart Bedside page.
