Bronson Honors Four Providers with 2021 Compassionate Provider Award
In December, Bronson awarded four providers with the 2021 Compassionate Provider Award. Nominated and chosen by their peers, the winners are:
- Lora Krone, PA-C, is a physician’s assistant at Bronson General Surgery Specialists in Battle Creek. Lora’s focus on taking time to talk with and listen to her patients helps her patients feel like true, active partners in their care and recovery.
- Stacy Ochsenrider, MSN, ANP, is an adult nurse practitioner at the Bronson Cancer Center working with patients in the hospital who have been referred for radiation therapy. Stacy’s mix of hope, compassion and knowledge is crucial as the patients begin their journey in cancer care.
- Megan Sikkema, DO, is a pediatrician at Bronson Rambling Road Pediatrics and Bronson Children's Hospital. Dr. Sikkema has been instrumental in helping Bronson navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Her leadership in the pediatric collaborative has helped to ensure that both patients and pediatricians have a voice in the decision making process.
- Patricia Zull, CNM, is a midwife at Grace Health in Battle Creek. Patricia goes above and beyond to assure that all her patients receive the pregnancy and birth experience that they desire.
“Bronson is full of physicians and advanced practice professionals that provide excellent, compassionate care for their patients. Every nominee exemplifies the type of care we strive to deliver. The recipients of the 2021 Compassionate Provider of the Year Award each had multiple nominations detailing stories and examples of their commitment to compassion,” says Michelle Halley, MD, Bronson Pediatric Medicine Hospital Specialists, Bronson Children’s Hospital and chair of Bronson’s physician wellness committee. “Compassion means ‘to suffer together’. These providers strive to work collaboratively with their patients to bring healing and alleviate suffering. I am impressed with their work and humbled and proud to be their colleagues.”
The 2021 Bronson Compassionate Provider of the Year award is presented through the Gretchen LaReau Memorial Fund at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation for Kalamazoo County and through the Bronson Health Foundation for Calhoun and Van Buren Counties. This fund was created by Allan and Rita LaReau in 1993, to honor the memory of their daughter Gretchen, who died of cancer. Click here to learn more.
