KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Beginning today, patients at Bronson Methodist Hospital will have access to Kalamazoo's first high definition, low radiation CT scan imaging system from GE Healthcare. The new CT scanner uses breakthrough technology that cuts radiation exposure by up to 50 percent and has higher resolution images than previous systems. Using this new technology, radiologists at Bronson will be able to see internal structures in the human body as small as a grain of sand in a single rotation.
Initially, low radiation CT scans will be offered to patients that will benefit the most from this technology: children, young adults, women and patients getting follow up or multiple scans.
CT scans are a common diagnostic tool used to assess disease or injury anywhere in the body. In the future, all of Bronson's CT scanning machines will have this low radiation technology. With 12 outpatient testing locations in southwest Michigan, Bronson continues to take the lead in accurate and effective diagnostic care.
