Bronson LakeView Recognizes Nurses During Nurses' Week
Nurses throughout the Bronson Healthcare system are being recognized during Nurses’ Week May 11 to 15. At Bronson LakeView Hospital, Linda Hughes, RN, received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. She was nominated by a former patient for providing an exceptional customer experience and going above and beyond to ensure the comfort of the patient.
Hughes, a nurse in the surgery department, was recognized for the compassion and support she provides to her patients. She is known to put her patients at ease before their procedures and handles adversity with grace. Hughes focuses largely on patient and family centered care to help create compassionate experiences.
“Although I would prefer to never have another surgery, I know I will be scheduled again soon and it brings a great deal of comfort knowing that Linda and the surgical department staff will take excellent care of me while I’m there,” the patient said.
The DAISY Award is supported by the not-for-profit DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Foundation. Bonnie and J. Mark Barnes created this foundation and award as a way to remember their son, J. Patrick Barnes. He had a disease that attacked his body and was in the hospital for a long time. His nurses did such a great job with him that the Barnes family created an award that continues to recognize the excellent work nurses do every day.
The following nurses were also nominated for the Daisy Award:
•Julie Flanders, MSN, RN
•Brenda Potter, RN
•Darci Samuel, RN
•Careane VanDyk, RN
•Shellie Zolp, RN
Bronson LakeView Hospital is partnering with the DAISY Foundation to recognize outstanding nurses. Forms from patients, family members and clinical staff are accepted throughout the year. To thank a nurse, visit bronsonhealth.com/daisy.
