Bronson Methodist Hospital and Bronson LakeView Hospital Receive 2007 Governor's Awards

Governor’s Awards for 2007 were recently presented to both Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo and Bronson LakeView Hospital in Paw Paw.

Bronson Methodist Hospital was honored for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care in the Hospital Setting. Bronson LakeView Hospital was recognized for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care in a critical access hospital setting.

“Award recipients are committed to providing Michigan citizens with high quality health care,” said Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. Award criterion aligns with improving care in a number of clinical areas that are designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

The Governor and MPRO (Michigan’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization) have partnered since 2003 to honor hospitals for their efforts to embrace best practices to improve systems and health outcomes.

The Governor’s Award has been enthusiastically supported by a variety of Michigan organizations and professional associations including; Alliance for Health; American Cancer Society; American College of Physicians-Michigan Chapter; Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; Renal Network 11; Greater Detroit Area Health Council; Greater Flint Health Coalition; HIMSS Michigan Chapter; Michigan Academy of Family Physicians; Michigan Academy of Physicians Assistants; Michigan Association for Healthcare Quality; Michigan Association of Health Plans; Michigan Association Osteopathic Family Physicians; Michigan Health Council; Michigan Health Information Management Association; Michigan Medical Group Management Association; Michigan Osteopathic Association; Michigan Primary Care Association; Michigan Rural Health Association; National Kidney Foundation of Michigan; Michigan Nurses Association; Michigan Pharmacy Association; Michigan Quality Improvement Consortium; and the Michigan State Medical Society.

In addition to this quality achievement, Bronson Methodist Hospital is the recipient of the 2005 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest presidential honor for quality and organizational performance excellence, and in 2008 was named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals® for cardiovascular care and as well as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals: Performance Improvement Leaders by Thomson Reuters.
