Healthgrades Names Bronson Methodist Hospital Among the Top 5% in the Nation for Outstanding Patient Experience
Bronson Methodist Hospital has been named a recipient of Healthgrades 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. This marks the ninth year in a row that Bronson has provided outstanding performance in the delivery of a positive experience for patients during their hospital stay, according to Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
Healthgrades evaluated 3,489 hospitals that submitted at least 100 patient experience surveys to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), covering admissions from April 2015 – March 2016. Nationally, 2,941 hospitals met eligibility requirements and 443 hospitals were found to be outperforming their peers. Bronson Methodist Hospital’s performance was among the top five percent in the nation.
“This award is a tremendous honor for our staff and reflects the dedication they have to provide an exceptional healthcare experience for every person, every time,” said Frank Sardone, president and CEO for the Bronson Healthcare system. “For consumers, this third party evaluation tells them they can be confident in choosing Bronson.”
Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance by applying a scoring methodology to 10 patient experience measures, using data collected from a 32-question patient experience survey. The survey questions focus on patients’ perspectives of their care in the hospital. Question topics range from cleanliness and noise levels in patient rooms to factors such as pain management and responsiveness to patients’ needs. The measures also include whether a patient would recommend the hospital to friends or family.
“Patient experience and satisfaction metrics resonate with consumers as they evaluate hospitals and select where they want to receive care,” said Brad Bowman, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “We commend those hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award for their commitment to delivering superior care experiences to patients during a hospital stay.”
