Bronson Methodist Hospital Neurodiagnostics Lab Earns Accreditation

Dennis Jewett

The American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) has accredited the neurodiagnostics lab at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Only five other neurodiagnostics labs in Michigan are accredited by the AANEM, including Bronson Neuroscience Center.

Accreditation gives patients, referral sources and payers a credible measure of the lab’s quality. The process evaluates diagnostic services and clinical operations, including:

  • Clinical staff qualifications and continuing education
  • Physical facilities
  • Neurodiagnostic equipment
  • Protocols for performing neurodiagnostic studies
  • Quality of test reports
  • Policies for ensuring the health and safety of every patient

Dennis Jewett, MD, neurologist with Bronson Neuroscience Center, is board certified by the AANEM. As the lab’s medical director for 10 years, he led Bronson staff and physicians to establish protocols and standards necessary for accreditation.

“This recognition, gives patients and providers confidence that our lab meets nationally recognized standards for quality,” says Dr. Jewett. “We know providers have many options when it comes to referrals, and we want them to know excellent service and high quality has always been a priority and is a source of pride for our team. Our efforts are now recognized as meeting the highest national standards.”
