Bronson Methodist Hospital is the first to perform an atrial fibrillation (AFib) procedure in southwest Michigan using the VARIPULSE™ Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) Platform. This new technology gives patients access to a next-generation treatment that allows cardiologists to correct irregular heartbeats with more precision and efficiency.
VARIPULSE™ combines pulsed field ablation with advanced cardiac mapping. This allows electrophysiologists to deliver rapid electrical pulses that selectively treat the areas of the heart causing arrhythmias, while still protecting surrounding healthy tissue. The system’s real-time imaging and mapping tools also make procedures faster and safer, and will ultimately lead to enhanced safety and patient outcomes.
“Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of heart arrhythmia in adults,” said Thomas Franzon, MD, electrophysiologist at Bronson Methodist Hospital. “By bringing VARIPULSE™ technology to Bronson, we can deliver advanced rhythm management locally to patients whose arrhythmias have not responded to medical therapy.”
Bronson Methodist Hospital is committed to investing in innovative cardiac technologies that support clinicians and expand access to high-quality heart care for the communities it serves. Learn more about Bronson’s cardiology services at bronsonhealth.com/heart.
