Bronson Methodist Hospital is the first in southwest Michigan to perform an atrial fibrillation (AFib) procedure using the VARIPULSE™ Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) Platform. This new technology gives patients access to a next-generation treatment that allows cardiologists to correct irregular heartbeats with greater precision and efficiency.

VARIPULSE™ combines pulsed field ablation with advanced cardiac mapping. This allows electrophysiologists to deliver rapid electrical pulses that selectively treat the areas of the heart causing arrhythmias while protecting surrounding healthy tissue. The system’s real-time imaging and mapping tools also make procedures faster and safer and may help improve patient outcomes.

“Atrial fibrillation is the most common type of heart arrhythmia in adults,” said Thomas Franzon, MD, electrophysiologist at Bronson Methodist Hospital. “By bringing VARIPULSE™ technology to Bronson, we can deliver advanced rhythm management locally to patients whose arrhythmias have not responded to medical therapy.”

Bronson Methodist Hospital is committed to investing in innovative cardiac technologies that support clinicians and expand access to high-quality heart care for the communities it serves.
