Bronson Neuroscience Center Offers Unique Approach To Treating Complex Conditions

January 06, 2011

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A newly named center at Bronson is changing the way patients in southwest Michigan receive care from neurologists, neurosurgeons and behavioral health experts. The Bronson Neuroscience Center is the result of a growing neuroscience program at Bronson that, over the past several years, has evolved to combine highly specialized physicians, clinical staff and treatment options all in one location. Adult and pediatric patients and their families all benefit from this unique, collaborative approach to care.

Typically, patients meet with neuroscience experts one at a time, often in different locations. The Bronson Neuroscience Center is rare because it offers experts in stroke, back pain, epilepsy, neurosurgery and more who work together in one place to provide the best possible comprehensive care for patients.

“When a patient sees one provider at our center, they have the opportunity to consult with multiple providers,” says Alain Fabi, M.D., executive medical director of neurosurgery at Bronson. “This collaboration is why I came to Bronson. It’s also the reason we have been able to attract so many highly specialized physicians and providers over the last few years.”

In southwest Michigan, the Bronson Neuroscience Center has the only board certified vascular neurologist, epileptologist and neurosurgeon fellowship-trained in both skull base and pediatric neurosurgery. The Bronson Neuroscience Center offers the most neuroscience experts in one location in southwest Michigan, including neurologists, neurosurgeons, pediatric neurosurgeons, medical spine specialist and neurobehavioral health experts.

Consistently recognized at the national level for high quality outcomes by leading healthcare ratings companies, there is no other neuroscience program in southwest Michigan like it.

Bronson Methodist Hospital’s quality achievements include:

* Ranked among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for stroke care (2011).
