Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Receives 2007 Michigan Award of Excellence

Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is one of 35 nursing facilities to receive MPRO’s, Michigan’s Quality Improvement Organization (QIO), prestigious 2007 Michigan Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Nursing Home Setting. There are more than 400 nursing facilities in Michigan.


Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center received the accolade for the areas of



  • Reducing Pressure Ulcers

  • Identifying and Reducing Pain

  • Reducing Physical Restraints


These topics have been designated as national healthcare priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Highlights of Michigan Award of Excellence criteria include; a survey of resident and staff satisfaction, submission of an essay on lessons learned, and completion of self-instructional modules on quality improvement initiatives.

“Our staff worked as a team to set targets and develop strategies to continuously improve care,” said Laura Hamann, director, extended care services, Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. “This award is a result of the staff’s dedication to providing the best care to enhance residents quality of life and patients recovery from illness, injury or surgery. We are proud to be a recipient of this distinguished honor.”
