Bronson Healthcare Position on the Release of the 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans

Last month’s release of the 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) has sparked discussion across the nutrition and healthcare communities. As the region’s leading healthcare provider, Bronson Healthcare clarifies how these guidelines are meant to be used and how nutrition care is provided at Bronson.

The DGAs offer evidence-based nutrition guidance for generally healthy individuals. They are also used to guide federal nutrition programs and public health efforts. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the nation’s largest group of nutrition professionals, has noted areas of alignment as well as concern with the updated guidelines. The Academy also emphasizes the importance of ongoing scientific review and using nutrition guidance in ways that reflect each person’s individual needs.

Bronson is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care based on the best available evidence. Our clinical nutrition teams use professional judgment, clinical expertise and individual assessment to guide nutrition recommendations that support prevention, healing and overall wellbeing.

At Bronson, registered dietitians support patients through medical nutrition therapy (MNT). This evidence-based, personalized approach to care takes into account a person’s health status, diagnoses, age, activity level and personal needs. While the DGAs play an important role in public health, they are not meant to be a one-size-fits-all approach. This is especially true for people with acute or chronic health conditions. Learn more.

Individuals with questions about nutrition or dietary guidance are encouraged to talk with their primary care provider. They can offer guidance and make a referral to a registered dietitian when appropriate, to help determine the right nutrition approach for each person’s health needs.
