Bronson Recognizes Hyperbaric Technician Susie Midtgard as Safety Hero

During a routine linen check, Susie discovered an EKG lead attached to a gown designated for HBO use. Because HBO chambers deliver pure oxygen in a pressurized environment, even a small metal component can pose a serious fire hazard.

Susie’s quick action led to the discovery of additional non-HBO-approved items and prompted a broader investigation. It was revealed that our linen vendor had changed their handling process without notifying clinical teams—a critical gap now being addressed.

Thanks to Susie’s attention to detail, lives were protected and system-wide safety protocols have been strengthened.
