Bronson Seeks Community Input to Identify Area's Most Pressing Health Needs

April 22, 2013

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Bronson Methodist Hospital is gathering input from Kalamazoo County residents in an effort to identify and prioritize the area’s most urgent unmet health needs.  People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to participate by taking a brief and confidential online survey.

The Community Health Needs Survey is posted on Bronson’s website at www.bronsonhealth.com/healthsurvey. It can be completed in about five minutes and all responses will remain anonymous.

Survey results will be analyzed along with secondary data and included in Bronson Methodist Hospital’s 2013 Community Health Needs Assessment report.  Both Bronson Battle Creek and Bronson LakeView hospitals have fielded similar surveys in Calhoun and Van Buren counties. Reports for all three hospitals will be posted for public viewing on Bronson Healthcare’s website at the end of the year.

Data collected in Kalamazoo will inform Bronson Methodist Hospital about ways it can better serve the community in the future.  Identified health needs will be ranked and shared with other community organizations that also provide healthcare and related services in Kalamazoo County.

“As a community-owned health system, Bronson is committed to not only treating illness, but to improving overall health and well-being.  Directly asking people about their biggest health concerns will help us focus our efforts where they can have the greatest impact.  With assessments being conducted by each of our hospitals, we’ll have a clear snapshot of the most important health problems facing southwest Michigan.  The next step will be to serve as catalyst to help solve them,” said Frank Sardone, Bronson Healthcare president and CEO.

If anyone has questions, comments, or requires special assistance to complete the survey, please contact Amy Terry, Bronson’s community health coordinator, at (269) 341-6104 or terrya@bronsonhg.org.
