Feldpausch Foundation Golf Outing Helps BBC Cancer Fund; Honors the Late Parker T. Feldpausch
For the past five years, the Feldpausch Foundation has hosted an annual golf outing. The 2012 event, to honor those suffering from cancer, raised $16,500 for the Cancer Care Medication Fund at Bronson Battle Creek. This fund assures that cancer patients who have little or no insurance will have access to needed medications for their treatments.
But this year, the amount of dollars raised increased dramatically. “Knowing how passionate my grandfather Parker T. Feldpausch was about the local cancer programs, I am pleased to report that the Feldpausch Foundation is matching the dollars raised from this year’s event, in his honor--making our gift $33,000,” said Corey LaGro, golf outing coordinator. “It was certainly a sad day when Grandpa died a few weeks ago, so this gift is special to us and I know for him as well. This matching gift was something he and I spoke of numerous times while in the hospital. He was always thinking of how to help others and this is another way for his good nature to live on.
“Thanks to the players in this event and to the many generous contributors, cancer patients who might not have the insurance to cover their medications will now have access to them and the caring support of the BBC cancer center's staff. My deepest appreciation goes out to all who made this golf outing such a success again."
Feldpausch Foundation was formed through the success of a three-generation grocery chain founded in Hastings, Michigan in 1933. It invests its resources in local charitable causes. More than $100,000 has been raised through this golf outing over the past five years for local cancer programs.
