Gene Lewis Hughes, Sr. Memorial Golf Outing To Help Cancer Patients

BATTLE CREEK, Mich ­- ­­The Gene Lewis Hughes, Sr. Memorial Golf Outing will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Battle Creek Country Club. Lunch and registration are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.

Individual entry fee is $125 and a foursome is $400. The golf outing includes gift bags, four person scramble, 18 holes of golf with cart and door prizes.

Proceeds from this event will go to the Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care Medication Fund through the Bronson Health Foundation. This fund assures that cancer patients who have little or no insurance will have access to needed medications for their treatments.

Gene Hughes, Sr. was diagnosed with colon cancer which had metastasized to his liver and lungs in 2003. With the help of God, his family, health providers and golf, Gene fought cancer for more than four years. After his death in 2008, his family started the golf outing in his name.

More than $97,700 has been raised over the last six years. This year, sponsorship opportunities include $2,000 Lunch Sponsor, $1,000 Eagle Sponsor, $500 Birdie Sponsor, $250 Fairway Sponsor, $150 Tee Sponsor and Donations. Everyone is welcome to play golf and help in the fight against cancer.
